About Mrs. Becker
I love teaching at ALA. I have been teaching here since the doors first opened to our students in September 2005. I was born and grew up in California, but really enjoy living in Spanish Fork where I’ve lived with my family since 2004. My husband Tim, who also teaches at ALA in the High School, and I met when we both worked for the Salt Lake School District. After we were married in 1998, we immediately moved to Des Moines, Iowa where we lived for 6 years. We loved living in the mid-west, although the winters were much colder and snowier than Utah. We moved back to Utah in 2003.
I have three beautiful children: Vanessa, Josef and Benjamin. They have all either attended or graduated from ALA. I also have two grandchildren, a bearded dragon named Steve, and a cat named Simon.
I received my bachelor’s degree from BYU and thoroughly enjoyed my time as a student as I love to learn. I had the opportunity to travel and study in Europe and serve a French speaking mission for my church. I love teaching French, reading, writing, history, and geography.
Aside from my amazing husband, children, grandchildren, and teaching, I have many hobbies and interests. I love music and enjoy listening to Simon and Garfunkle, the Eagles and Chicago with my son Benjamin. I enjoy playing the piano, and cooking (I have way too many cookbooks!), reading, and old movies. I love jigsaw puzzles. In the past few years I have developed some skills doing family history research and enjoy searching out my husband’s lines that go back to Ukraine which used to be a part of Russia. Ukraine is one of the many places ethnic Germans lived before immigrating to the U.S.
I also love to travel and have been to many U.S. States. My husband and I took a road trip this summer through 14 states. We drove to Key West in Florida and got to see the islands before the terrible storms of the past few weeks.
I am so grateful for all the wonderful things and people in my life. Teaching is a great way to share my love of learning and knowledge, and the blessings and opportunities of this life. I am excited when I see my students grow and develop their talents.
