CCR Process (College Career Readiness)

Purpose:
American Leadership Academy believes that personal educational planning is essential to the academic and occupational success of every student. This planning should involve students, parents/guardians and educators. At the secondary level this planning will take place in the form of a College Career Readiness Plan (CCR). This planning will include reliable, useful, and timely data on student progress and goals which will facilitate student planning and the accepting of responsibility for his/her own success. Frequent assessment of student progress and goals is the key to the CCR process.

This planning will include reliable, useful, and timely data on student progress and goals which will facilitate student planning and the accepting of responsibility for his/her own success. Frequent assessment of student progress and goals is the key to the CCR process.
2 What to expect: Each student shall have a personalized CCR plan as required by Utah Code 53-A-1a-106. Each CCR plan shall include the following standards:
3 Identification of accomplishments and strengths.
4 Focus upon education and career development goals and progress.
5 Consideration of graduation requirements progress and postsecondary goals.
6 Earnest and persistent effort shall be made to invite parents/ guardians and students to attend a CCR conference at a scheduled time. Please check this page often for dates of when those appointments will be available. The following minimum meeting schedules will be met.
7 Seniors: Will meet individually with the Senior Counselor to review their CCR plan. They will make sure they are on track for graduation, go over the graduation requirements, sign their name for diploma accuracy, review the 4 year transcript, and discuss the rental of the cap and gown. They will also discuss ACT scores and testing dates, go over scholarships, talk about the college, career and pathways, talk about EDNET, MATC, AP and Concurrent enrollment classes, do any credit intervention that is needed, and talk about any other concerns or questions that the parent/guardian or student may have.
8 Juniors: Along with parent/guardian will meet with the Junior Counselor for their CCR plan which will include discussing scholarships and how to do searches, review graduation requirements, discuss college and career choices, talk about EDNET, MATC, AP and Concurrent enrollment classes, ACT testing dates and other ways to earn credit or make-up credit. The Counselor will also go over ACT scores if applicable, make sure the student is on track to graduation, do credit intervention that is needed, and discuss any other concerns, individually with the student when deemed necessary.
9 Sophomores: Will meet as a small group with the Sophomore Counselor to review their CCR plan. They will discuss graduation requirements, college and career choices, EDNET, MATC, AP and Concurrent enrollment classes, set up a tentative schedule for the next two years, talk about scholarships and how to do searches, go over ACT testing dates and scores if applicable, do any credit intervention that is needed, and talk about any other questions or concerns that the parent/guardian or student may have.
10 Freshman: Along with parent/guardian will meet with the Freshman Counselor for their CCR plan which will include discussing scholarships and how to do searches, college and career choices, review graduation requirements, the ACT testing and its importance and enrollment dates, introduce them to EDNET, MATC, AP and Concurrent enrollment classes that will be available to them their Sophomore year, go over the NCAA program and the requirements, set up a tentative schedule for the next three years, and will discuss the importance of their grade point average and how it effects their future. The Counselor will make sure the student is on track to graduation and do credit intervention if needed. Counselor will make sure social and academic transitions are smooth, and discuss any other concerns individually with the student when deemed necessary.
11 Eighth Grade students: Along with parent/guardian will meet individually with the Junior High Counselor to review their CCR plan. They will discuss the importance of grades and credits, set up a tentative schedule for the next 4 years, discuss opportunities that are available through extracurricular activities, college and career choices , talk about scholarships that are available and how to do searches, what can be expected with their High School experience, and discuss any questions or concerns that the parent/guardian or student may have.
12 Seventh Grade students: Will meet as a small group for their CCR plan which will include discussing grade and credit expectations, college and career choices, scholarships that are available and how to do searches, what extracurricular activities or groups that are offered, they will be taught through CTE classes about life lessons and how to make career choices and set goals towards higher education. The Counselor will make sure social and academic transitions are smooth when students enter the Junior High.
13 Sixth Grade students: Will meet as a small group and be welcomed into Junior High. They will discuss what is expected during the next six years, a tentative schedule will be put together, will be given ideas on how to become involved in the extracurricular activities or groups that are available, will talk about scholarships that are available and how to do searches, and will be informed on where they can go to get the information or help that may be needed.
