Congratulations Mr. Workman for your awesome Teacher of the Month award for April.

Thank you for all you do. Get to know Mr. Workman with these fun facts.

1. How long have you been working at ALA? What do you teach and what grade?

I’ve been at ALA for eight years teaching Middle School History, Speech and Debate, Leadership, and Student Government, depending on what was needed most each year.

2. Where did you go to college? When did you graduate? What did you study/degree?

I completed a BS in Elementary Education with dual emphasis at Northern Arizona University, A Masters of Business Administration at Western Governors University, and intend to complete my first Master of Education this summer.

3. What are some fun facts about you?

I have seven children, who have all attended ALA. I have been beaten in chess by two different National Masters, back when I was much better than I am now. I really, really, really love Sioux City Sarsaparilla.

4. What is your favorite quote?

Thinking is like exercise, it requires consistency and rigor. Like barbells in a weightlifting room, the classics force us to either put them down or exert our minds. They require us to think.
-Oliver DeMille

Being in the same room with people and creating something together is a good thing.
-Robin Williams

You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.
-Robin Williams

5. What do you LOVE about ALA?

ALA is safe for my kids and your kids to discover the world without needing the world to discover them. There are teachers, leaders, and staff who care enough to disagree about the best ways to serve students and come to a consensus about what is reasonable.
