About Mrs. Boren

I grew up in a little town in central Utah named Gunnison. My family had a small farm and I learned how to work hard. My brother and I would move hand-lines in the field and help our dad with the cows.  I am the oldest of 4 children, I have 2 brothers and 1 sister.  I graduated from Gunnison Valley High School and then attended Snow College for 1 year. I love to play basketball and volleyball and played both in high school. I also love music and singing. I have been involved in many choirs in High school and at Snow College. My sophomore and senior year of high school I was invited to be a part of the Utah Ambassadors of Music. I sang in the choir and traveled through out Europe. This is where I met my husband.  We have been happily married for 19 years now. We have 5 children, Brady , McKenzie, Zack, Eli and Mckell.  I love every minute we get to spend together! We love to go camping, hiking, fishing, backpacking, rock crawling in our jeep and just being out in nature. My husband and I are also licensed falconers and train different types of raptors. We currently have 2 Harris Hawks that we have trained and fly.

I decided to go back to school to become a teacher, because I have wanted to teach school for a long time, But I didn’t know what I wanted to teach until I became a mom and knew I wanted to teach elementary kids. When my two youngest (twins) were 4 years old I started back at school. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies(K-8th) through Western Governors University in April 2019.  I did my student teaching at ALA in 5th grade and learned so much. I have also been a substitute teacher for 2 years and taught Kindergarten and 1st grade PE here at American Leadership Academy. I am so excited to be teaching 4th grade! I am looking forward to a great year at ALA!
