About Mr. Caldwell

   Richard Caldwell began teaching at The American Leadership Academy in August 2016, He
currently teaches Architectural Design and Mechanical Design.
Born and raised in Long Beach, California he earned an Associate’s Degree in Architectural
Design from Long Beach City College. After a 2 Year mission to the Western States he earned a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Arts Education from California State University in Long
Beach.
    After graduating, he was drafted into the Army during the Viet Nam War. He enjoyed the Army
and served for 25 years as a director of Human Resources and Public Relations. He traveled
the world and served in many exciting places. During his Army career he earned a Master’s
Degree in Communications from the City University of Los Angeles.
Upon retirement from the Army, he accepted a teaching position at Alta High School in Sandy,
Utah. He taught Architectural Design, Mechanical Design, Digital Media, Photography as well as
3D Design and Animation. After 25 years of teaching he retired.
   He and his wife served 2 Military Relations missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hawaii and Monterey California. Upon returning from the missions he was offered a position at the American Leadership Academy.
   He is married to Christine Ann Macklin and has 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls. They now have
16 grandchildren.
