About Mrs. Creighton
I was born and raised in gorgeous Tampa, Florida. I was the 3rd of 8 children, 2 girls and 6 boys. I lived in the same house until my second year of college, when I moved out on my own. I graduated from The University of South Florida in 1994, married my sweetheart, and began a family before moving here to sunny Utah 19 years ago. We have three sons ages 21, 20, and 18 who are away at college, on a mission, or preparing to go on a mission for the LDS church. Jimmy, my youngest will be serving in Orlando, Florida just after Thanksgiving! Can you believe that?
When Jimmy started school, I began volunteering and then working at Headstart. After two years, I trained as a reading specialist and worked for Dyslexia TLC for a few years while volunteering here as my children started attending A.L.A. in 2005. I began working as a classroom aide, and shortly after as a special education aide in the Junior High and High Schools while long-term subbing. I had the opportunity to commence teaching 3rd grade in 2014 and moved to 5th grade this year.
I love to read, learn new things, and spend time with my family. My favorite color is green, favorite book is The Way of Kings, favorite subject is Math, and favorite poet is Robert Frost, but Shel Silverstein is awesome too! I like to hike, camp, read, complete puzzles, and research my family history. I love teaching and opening students’ minds to new possibilities.
