About Ms. Hammond
I moved to Utah almost 6 years ago from Alaska and have enjoyed the change in weather and scenery. I am originally from Michigan, but I left several years ago after I graduated from High School and enlisted in the Army. I was in the Army for 6 ½ years, where I had the honor of being a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. While in the military, I began working on my college education. I completed an Associates while in, but then took a break after I got out of the military so that I could focus on my family. I have 3 amazing boys and they were the main reason that I got into education, and I have not regretted it one bit!
Some of my favorite things to do are to hike, garden, build and maintain things, and just do things that keep my mind busy. I love to learn and figure things out, which sometimes is a hindrance, because I forget to relax and “shut off” a lot of the time. But, mostly, I love to do these things with my family around so that I can teach my boys about the things I enjoy.
Previously, I have taught Preschool and Kindergarten, but I think that I fit a 6th grade teacher better overall, mainly because I love to challenge this age group to step up and become thinkers and leaders.
