About Ms. Hill

I grew up in the small town of Delta, Utah before moving to Provo in order to continue my education at BYU where I received a Bachelors in Elementary Education. After graduating from BYU, I worked as a substitute in the Provo, Nebo, and Alpine Districts where I was able to work with all age groups and it became obvious to me that K-2  is the best place to be! This will be my first year teaching and I am so excited to start out in second grade in such an amazing school!

However, Education had not always been my goal. For most of my life, I wanted to be a nurse and I had planned on pursuing a degree in nursing. One year, I volunteered in a kindergarten summer school classroom and I fell in love with teaching and working with children. There was no better feeling than when I saw their eyes light up in understanding. It was clear that my heart was in teaching so I promptly switched Majors and jumped into Education- one of the best decisions of my life! I love seeing children learn and grow and being the one to guide and help them and it is clear to me that this is where I belong.

I still maintain my love of care-giving and nursing. I worked as a CNA in an assisted living facility for over five years and plan to return over the summers because I love the work that I do there so much! I am a caregiver at heart and am excited to be able to transfer that energy into a classroom environment.

I also love reading, hiking, and going boating with my family at Lake Powell-it’s at the top of the list of my favorite places, right next to Disneyland! I love to have fun and I try to squeeze as much fun and enjoyment into this life as I can. This holds true in my classroom as well. When I was hired, I told Principal Davis that I believed that learning should be enjoyed, not suffered and she responded, “Why trudge through the mud when you can play in it?”. I have adopted this as part of my teaching motto and strive to have an active and exciting classroom!
