About the Role: The Part-Time Librarian supports a vibrant, student-centered library program by maintaining accurate inventory systems, managing the leveled library, and delivering short, engaging literacy mini-lessons tied to popular grade-level texts. This role ensures that students and teachers have access to high-quality, well-organized reading materials that promote a love of reading across K–6. The ideal candidate is highly organized, approachable, and passionate about helping children discover a lifelong joy for reading.

Key Responsibilities
Library Inventory Management — Maintain accurate cataloging, check-in/check-out systems, and regular audits of all library materials. Leveled Library Oversight — Organize, label, and update the leveled library to ensure strict alignment with school or district leveling systems (F&P, Lexile, AR, etc.). Mini-Lesson Creation — Design and deliver short, high-interest lessons (5–15 minutes) based on popular grade-level books, focusing on comprehension, vocabulary, author’s craft, or reading joy. Student Engagement — Foster a positive, inclusive environment where all students feel successful and motivated to explore texts through book talks, read-alouds, and themed activities. Teacher Collaboration — Coordinate directly with classroom teachers to support curriculum needs, reading levels, and book availability. Library Environment — Maintain an inviting, organized, and inclusive library space that encourages independent exploration and reinforces consistent classroom management expectations. Resource & Equipment Management — Track damaged or missing books, prepare replacement lists, support ordering processes, and ensure library tech/software runs efficiently. Character & Values Development — Introduce and reinforce ALA’s RISE UP values (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, Unity, and Patriotism) within the library setting.
