Job Description: 

 

 

The High School Business, Finance and Marketing Teacher instructs the student in academic and technical content to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter an occupation. The CTE Business, Finance and Marketing teacher is responsible for the following items to  further the educational mission of the school and in accordance with state law and Utah Board of  Education policies and regulations

Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Business, Finance and Marketing Teacher shall have the following responsibilities and duties

  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development and physical health 
  • Prepare materials and classroom for instruction and class activities 
  • Prepare and establish clear objectives and outlines for all lessons, units, courses of study, following  curriculum requirements of USBE. Effectively communicate those objectives to students. Utilize a curriculum map, plan lessons, etc. 
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, in the knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation  or occupational field, using various teaching methods such as discussions, small group, audio-visual presentations, laboratory, shop and field studies
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and  guide students in learning from those activities

Prepare, administer, and grade assignments and assessments to evaluate students' progress... 

  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulation.maintaining order among students.
  • Establish, Demonstrate, supervise and enforce classroom rules and safety procedures for proper use

    and care of tools and equipment to prevent injury and damage.

  • Establish demonstrate, supervise and enforce classroom rules for behavior and procedures for
  • Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to 
  • determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.

  • Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' 

Job Qualifications

 

  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests. 
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required. 
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs for the benefit of the student.
  • Meet expectations as assigned by administration

Business Office Specialist 

Marketing

Entrepreneurship

College and Career Awareness 

CTSO's, i.e. DECA and FBLA 

Interpersonal Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must possess the ability to  establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, & the public.  Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended  periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and  read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at  normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
