GENERAL INFORMATION

      • If you have business inside the school, please park your car in the parking lot. Do not park at the curb. No parking signs and reserved parking spots are posted throughout the parking lot. If you leave your car unattended, you will be ticketed.
      • Never block the handicap ramps or parking spaces.
      • Students are only allowed in the school from 7:50 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., unless they have made arrangements with a specific teacher or for an approved activity.
      • The Del Monte Road entrance is reserved for elementary drop off/pickup and the Mill Road entrance is reserved for secondary drop off/pickup.
      • Please do not use your cell phone while driving your car during drop off/pickup times. Focus on student safety.
      • Parents are not permitted to walk into a teacher’s classroom at dismissal time to informally conference with a teacher. Important closing procedures are being conducted at that time.
      • Parents and siblings must not congregate at the front entrance; this blocks students from entering or coming out quickly and seeing their cars as they exit the building.
      • Anyone coming from the middle grass strip or secondary parking lot, must cross at the crosswalk in front of the Jr. High.

ELEMENTARY MORNING DROP OFF

      • Enter the school from Del Monte Road, follow the traffic staying to the right and pull completely forward in the carpool lane BEFORE dropping off your student. (Follow the directions of the staff located in the drop off zones and pull forward to where you are directed.)
      • K-6 Elementary students must exit cars directly on the sidewalk to the right side of the car. Parents please remain in your vehicle and have all school items with your student, not in the trunk. Staff will be available to assist your child with exiting and entering the vehicle.
      • Exiting cars from the drop off should proceed with caution and focus on student safety while merging into the left lane. Cars should not pull out of the drop off lane and around other cars unless directed to do so by staff or faculty.
      • Between 7:50 a.m. and 8:10 a.m., students K-6 report to the elementary gym during inclement weather and the elementary playground during good weather.
      • Arrive on time, school starts at 8:15 a.m. and therefore students should be seated in their classes at that time. Students arriving after 8:15 a.m. will be marked tardy and the rules of the attendance policy will apply.(See the attendance policy posted on the ALA website.) It is not an acceptable excuse for tardiness to school because your vehicle is delayed in school traffic.

Note: Kindergarten Drop Off

All Kindergartners will be dropped off in the same location as the 1st-6th grade students. The kindergarten teachers will escort them to their classes at 8:10 a.m. There will be no kindergarten drop off at the portables on the south east corner of ALA. This is for the safety of all students and better flow of traffic during drop off and pick up times.

ELEMENTARY DISMISSAL

Cars in lines earlier than dismissal time will not be allowed to park or block the parking lot. ALA faculty and staff are very concerned about the traffic problems parents are causing at dismissal time. It is suggested that you not arrive earlier than the 3:20 P.M. dismissal time and if you plan to wait for secondary students you enter from Mill Road and have your secondary student collect the elementary students and proceed to the secondary school pick up zone.

      • No elementary student checkout will be allowed after 3:15 p.m. from the elementary front desk without prior approval. (See procedure above). Should a parent have an emergency that prevents them from picking up a child on time, the parent or appropriate designee must notify the school prior to 3:15 p.m.
      • Students who are car riders should be picked up in front of the elementary in the designated areas. Follow the directions of the staff and proceed to the appointed pick up zones along the red curb directly in front of the Elementary.
      • Exiting elementary carpool vehicles must merge to the left drive thru lane and then exit turning left or right via Eagle Drive. Follow staff directions and posted signs. NO PICK UP IN THE EXIT LANES.

SECONDARY DROP OFF

      • Enter the school from Mill Road onto Eagle Drive, enter the secondary parking lot following the traffic staying to the right and drop students in front of the high school along the red curb in front of the High School. Follow the directions of the staff located in the drop off zones and pull forward to where you are directed.
      • Students must exit cars directly on the sidewalk to the right side of the car. Parents please remain in your vehicle and have all school items with your student, not in the trunk.
      • Exiting cars from the drop off should proceed with caution and focus on student safety while merging into the left lane. Cars should not pull out of the drop off lane and around other cars unless directed to do so by staff or faculty.
      • Arrive on time, lines are rare from 7:40 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. School starts at 8:00 a.m. and therefore students should be seated in their classes at that time. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy and the rules of the attendance policy will apply. (See the attendance policy posted on the ALA website.) It is not an acceptable excuse for tardiness to school because your vehicle is delayed in school traffic.

SECONDARY DISMISSAL

**Cars in lines earlier than dismissal time will not be allowed to park along curbside or block the parking lot. ALA faculty and staff are very concerned about the traffic problems parents are causing at dismissal time. It is suggested that you not arrive earlier than the 3:20 p.m. dismissal time. If you plan to wait for secondary students, have the secondary student pick up the elementary student(s) and proceed to the secondary school pick up zone.

      • No secondary student checkout will be allowed after 3:15 p.m. from the secondary front desk without prior approval. (See procedure above). Should a parent have an emergency that prevents them from picking up a child on time, the parent or appropriate designee must notify the school prior to 3:15 p.m.
      • Vehicles picking up secondary students should enter and exit from Mill Road.
      • The secondary pickup zone will be along the curbed area in front of the High School. Proceed to the secondary pickup zone as indicated by staff, signs and orange cones.
      • Cars should carefully merge to the left once students are picked up and proceed to exit via Mill Road. Cars will be directed to make a right on Eagle Drive and exit via Mill Road.
      • Do not block parking spaces or park along the curb. There is less traffic after 3:30 p.m. if picking up your student in a timely manner is a concern. If you wish to arrive early, park in an available parking spot but not the handicapped or reserved spots. Proceed into the pickup zone when your student is ready to be picked up. Violators of handicapped or reserved spots will be cited.
      • Students will not be permitted to wait in the parking lot or on the grassy areas between parking lots. It is not safe for the students. They are to be picked up ONLY in the designated carpool red curb areas along the front of the Elementary School and High School.
