Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners and productive citizens
Teachers maintain a safe environment; establish rapport with students, parents and colleagues; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education and do so in accordance with each student’s ability
Teachers differentiate curriculum and use effective research-based methods of instruction
Utilize equipment to apply concepts found in USBE’s CTE Core Curriculum
Teach the core content area(s) outlined in the USBE’s Core Curriculum, and adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other approved learning activities
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the child
Utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction
Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom through organization and appropriate discipline strategies
Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency-Based Learning in evaluating students
Communicate with parents through conferences, telephone calls, e-mails, student planners, school website, and other appropriate means, to discuss the student’s progress
Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff regarding the student’s academic and personal growth areas
Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are essential functions of this position
Provide and maintain a safe and supportive environment in the classroom and on the school campus
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities
Participate in faculty meetings as required
Administer appropriate student attendance policies and procedures
Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community
Understand and adhere to laws, school policies, and procedures
Demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission
Be a positive role model
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Credentials:
A valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with one of the following endorsements:
College/Career Awareness & Digital Literacy, Business & Marketing Basic;
A current out-of-state license with a business/marketing related endorsement
New teacher education program graduates, who do not have their official teaching license yet, should upload a conferral letter from their university education program in lieu of their license, verifying date of graduation, and in which content area(s)
Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related field such as business, marketing, accounting, business management and have completed the following courses with a ‘C’ of higher grade in the last five (5) years: 3 credits in business, 3 credits in computer/digital literacy, 1 credit in spreadsheets, 1 credit in word processing and 3 credits in computer science
Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and have six (6) years of documented, related, full-time occupational experience (not teaching experience) within the ten (10) years prior to application
Note: a person may apply with a combination of industry certificates and college coursework
Ability to maintain an orderly teaching environment
Ability to use and implement approved curriculum maps
Ability to evaluate student academic progress through various formal and informal assessments
Ability to communicate student academic progress to parents through various formats
Ability and willingness to use technology to enhance student engagement
Ability and willingness to collaborate and work with other professionals in Professional Learning Communities
Ability and willingness to implement proficiency-based grading
Ability to implement project-based learning in CCA classes
Ability to build a positive working relationship with students, school staff, administration business partners, parents and the community
Knowledge and experience using computers and software

Requires a Utah State Board of Education (USBE) approved cleared criminal background check
Requires a valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah within the relevant “Licensure
Area of Concentration” and if applicable, “Endorsement.”
Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Physical demands require moving and lifting supplies, equipment, etc
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
The teacher must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
